For an ice cream company to start in the 1930s I could only imagine would be a staggering challenge. Art deco was a big movement at the time, so giving a modern look of that style during the Great Recession only shows the strength and endurance of Cleveland's great ice cream company.
It was important to keep up with the brand standards that make up the United Way. Their styleguide helped ensure the design of their annual report kept the brand consistent to other materials and identity. Communication was kept close and there was even collaboration between me and the director regarding writing the final copy.
Pencott Mission-Critical Camouflage
MMI Textiles was producing textiles for a camouflage company and needed a striking brochure to promote their partnership with Hyde Definition. A project that was overseen through many hands required close communication to my approach with the final design.
Sisters & Co.
Two sisters in Avon, Ohio opened a posh hair salon and needed a bold look to match. The brand identity reflects a unisex style, with a high end quality. The orange is a vibrant color to symbolize their youth with wisdom in the industry.
In particular, I love the colors in this. Coordinating with Avalon's blue and green, it is complimented with tans and magentas in the photo, creating a strong sense of balance.
The client needed a new logo for her company. The butterfly demonstrates the metamorphic properties in business when effective communication is made.
Cleveland City Dance Company
As the Cleveland City Dance Company prepared for a performance at the Tri-C East campus, they were calling for entries of a poster advertising the event. Here, this entry takes on an art nuveau approach with floral motifs illustrating the wings, demonstrating the ballerina's transformation in the ballet.
the concept behind Metalmedia was a music label that was rough, gritty, yet underneath it all, clean and coherent. A reflection of my musical tastes along the lines of Iron Maiden, Falconer, Edguy, and the like.
Lorain County Community College teams up with Jack Nicklaus every year to hold a scholarship benefit. Here is the tri-fold brochure promoting the event. Their golf ball with tassel is a previous design element which they have kept throughout their annual function.
North Olmsted City Schools
North Olmsted fosters a strong value in education. Expensive renovations and repairs drained funds from the city and they looked to the future to build a new grade 6 though 12 campus that would replace the middle and high school, saving taxpayers money in the long run.
Strong communication and transparency was key to win the hearts and minds of voters. Here, a newsletter was created and mailed throughout the city. Postcards and other materials followed, and in November, voters said yes to Issue 9, paving the way for a new building to usher in a brighter future for North Olmsted.
KB BioEnergy is a startup based in Akron, Ohio. For their open house they needed a series of materials to promote their objectives and explain their progress. Featured here is their 4-page landscape brochure quickly selling their technology and benefits to the environment.
