This weekend we are sure to be spending time with loved ones, enjoying some time off, and hopefully some beautiful weather (based where you are). But we are reminded this weekend that while we light up our grills, that on Monday we remember those lost in the flames of war.
Their sacrifice goes unmatched. They have paid the ultimate price protecting freedoms and a way of life so many enjoy. They protect a hope that we can have a better future not just for our own country, but humanity itself in a growing, interconnected world.
We've had rebellious Minutemen stand united against tyranny, to soldiers fighting in to keep a Union from splitting in two.
There's the doughboys in the Great War, the "war to end all wars" who sailed to Europe. and subsequently, their children, only some 20 years later, to thwart a tyrannical axis that threatened the world.
The unsung heroes caught in the Korea and Vietnam conflicts, and our generations who fought to bring peace in a Middle East conflict that continues to this day.
And all those men and women in conflicts between. They are countless to mention. By land, air, and sea. Their valiant hearts live on because we remember, we carry on their spirit, with hope and love for a better tomorrow.
